It is a printed or digital navigation guide that provides pilots and co-pilots with the necessary instructions to navigate a given route, without the help of GPS navigation systems. It is an essential part of rally raid competitions, such as the Dakar or the FenekRally, where orientation is key to success.
You can choose between electronic format or the “old-fashioned” paper format, whichever you are most comfortable with. For the electronic format we use the pirated Terra application that you can download to your Tablet. It is one of the best roadbook navigation apps and is widely used in many events. This application allows the management of the roadbook, the trip, the caps on a single screen, making it very practical and easy to use, especially for beginners.
If you do not have experience with this application, during the verifications we will do a couple of training sessions on its use.
FenekRally Roadbook allows the pilot and co-pilot to guide each other precisely without the need for digital maps or GPS, making the competition more challenging and focused on navigation skill and orientation. Participants must correctly interpret each vignette and relate it to the real environment to avoid getting lost or making direction errors. In the FenekRally, the use of the roadbook is crucial, since it is based on pure navigation through drawing vignettes, courses with approximate distances. and waypoint location. This makes the competition a real challenge of skill and strategy.
The FenekRally aims to be a 100% competitive rally (it is not a guided tour), however we are aware that not everyone has the same technical, physical level and experience in navigation, which is why we make a varied and demanding route without being impossible. for less experienced participants.
The Overland and Adventure option avoids dune sections for those less prepared vehicles and/or participants. In any case, you will be able to make your own dose of dunes, even if it is a small section, and little by little you will acquire the necessary skill and experience.
