At the FenekRally with the Yamaha Ténéré 700.

Among the entrants for the next edition of the rally, Spanish rider José Moliner will take to the track to tackle the evocative Moroccan routes on his motorcycle.

The Spanish rider José Moliner, a passionate motorcyclist and professional mechanic, will be at the start of the FenekRally 2024, scheduled to take place from October 5 to 13 in Morocco.

Born and raised in Barcelona (though his parents are from a small village, Campo, in the province of Huesca, Aragón, where this 39-year-old spends most of his free time), José will make his debut in the rally organized by Lluis Rosa at the controls of his Yamaha Ténéré 700, the two-wheeled motorcycle from the Japanese brand designed for long-distance adventures and built to adapt perfectly to any riding conditions, both on and off the road.

Although this will be his first official participation in a competition with Fenek, it is not his first adventure in Morocco, a country he has visited several times. “Yes, I’ve been lucky enough to go to this incredible country at least six or seven times, always by motorcycle. Each time has been an amazing thrill, a unique opportunity to immerse myself in wonderful, ever-changing, and exciting landscapes,” says José. “As a competitor in a motorsport event, this will be my first experience. I’m sure it will be a great adventure, both to challenge myself and understand my true riding and navigation skills, and to share my passion for motorcycles and the desert with others.”

How did he prepare the Yamaha to take part in the FenekRally? “The bike is actually stock; the only modifications were to the springs and the exhaust, which were replaced with higher-performance parts. The Ténéré 700 is a two-wheeled enduro motorcycle you can use anywhere, giving you a real sense of freedom. Its compact steel tube frame and slim profile provide great agility and handling, whether riding seated or standing. It’s a rally-designed motorcycle with ground clearance that makes it perfect for tricky terrain and a light weight that ensures unmatched agility in any riding condition, even the most technical ones,” continues José.

Representing the “La109” team – a name that comes from the group of friends with whom the Spanish rider used to race on the track – José has a clear idea about the FenekRally: “I’m convinced it’s the ideal race in terms of terrain, logistics, and organization for an amateur rider like me to enter the field in this sport. It will be a great experience to compare myself with other off-road enthusiasts and an excellent opportunity to improve my riding skills,” concludes Moliner.

Happy two-wheeled adventure!
