The FenekRally tells its story: here is the 2025 edition

Medical and logistical support, training and preparation of participants, collaboration with local authorities, commitment to the natural environment and safety of local communities are among the priorities for the upcoming FenekRally.

The city of Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara Desert and the most famous places in southern Morocco, will kick off the eleventh edition of the FenekRally, scheduled from November 15th to 23rd. The rally-raid organized by Lluis Rosa and his team will feature an exciting prologue and five challenging stages to be held on different types of terrain – tracks, sand and dunes – for a total route of over 1.300 km and between 5 and 10 hours of driving each day.

The categories of vehicles allowed at the starting line remain unchanged, with motorcycles, SSV, 4×4 and trucks being the stars of this off-road event. Among the participation modes available for registration, alongside the “rallye” option, which is based on navigation with a roadbook and timed classification, and the “overland” option, which includes a roadbook but no timing, this year there is also the “adventure” category dedicated to those who want to approach the world of rally-raids safely and “step by step” (with a roadbook and/or GPS track or following a qualified guide).
To make participation in the FenekRally even more enjoyable, the organization has also planned significant improvements and additional services dedicated to both participants and support teams.

Medical support

Specialized in medical assistance for rally-raid races, the new official rescue team of the FenekRally is equipped with advanced equipment and extensive experience in extreme terrains, ensuring the safety of all participants, assistance and the organizing staff. Supporting this important service will be Ambulance Maroc by Aznag, with its 4×4 ambulances present along the rally-raid route, ready to intervene if necessary.

Logistics: accommodation and transport

For those who wish, the FenekRally organization will facilitate the rally-raid experience by reserving transport (ferry and plane) and accommodation bookings. For the 2025 edition, the event’s base will be the 4-star hotel Kasbah-Chergui in Erfoud, about 55 km from Erg Chebbi. Here, the closed park, race direction, and rally organization will be located, and daily briefings will take place.

General briefing and safety

Before the official start of the event, all participants will attend a general briefing on safety regulations, the use of personal protective equipment and the correct interpretation of the roadbook. Thanks to strict protocols, the entire race route has been carefully designed and planned to minimize any type of risk

Cutting-edge equipment and technologies

Depending on the category in which one registers, all vehicles allowed in the FenekRally must meet specific technical requirements, starting with safety systems such as rollbars, 4 or 6-point seat belts and fire extinguishing systems. Vehicles will also be equipped with satellite tracking devices to allow race direction to monitor each competitor’s position in real-time, making emergency interventions on the field more immediate and efficient.

Commitment to the environment and local communities

The FenekRally is not just a motorsport competition focused on driving skills and endurance but also an event where adrenaline and safety coexist in the best possible way, creating a sporting event of international significance. In this perspective, the organization aims to respect the natural environment and local communities in Morocco: the FenekRally works to ensure that protected areas are respected and that race routes are planned to minimize environmental and social impact, promoting sustainable development. The organization therefore works closely with local authorities to ensure a safe environment for both participants and spectators, including traffic closures when necessary and the use of appropriate road signage.

Training courses

For those interested, the FenekRally will organize a navigation and dune driving course (scheduled from November 12 to 14, for a fee) dedicated to those participating in the motorsport event or those wishing to prepare for other off-road adventures. The two-day training, designed for all levels, from beginners to more experienced drivers, includes a theoretical part on navigation (both paper and electronic roadbooks) and a practical part on vehicle driving techniques on different types of terrain.

With cameras in hand and pen and paper ready, they will ensure comprehensive journalistic coverage, valuable for reliving the emotions experienced on the racecourse once back home, as well as serving as an important aid in seeking potential sponsors.
